What Is A Parish Nurse? Parish nurses are persons of faith who are experienced registered nurses, and who have received special education in wholistic health care. They have skills in teaching and health counseling as well as knowledge of community resources. As a member of the church staff, the parish nurse promotes wellness within the congregation, enhances the church's outreach ministry, and strengthens the awareness of the connection between faith and health.
Parish Nurse We are fortunate at First Baptist Moline to have two Parish Nurses; Barb Miller and Sandy Claerhout. Both give generously of their time and talent. They provide many services to our congregation including: hospital visits, nursing home visits, phone visits, home visits, picking up medications and groceries, driving people to doctor’s appointments, health education at Vacation Bible School and Sunday Morning blood pressure checks. They also oversee an annual flu shot clinic. |
